ups and down, ins and outs

so last week we had the forgetting, the seeing mystery things, the not seeing actual things, the not wanting to leave my room.... what can we do with this week?

oh! i know, how about i make everyone at work think im having a heart attack?! awesome idea, me!

i checked some books in, i grabbed one, (in the correct way, OT lady), turned and placed it in the trolley behind me. goodness me, that hurt. i'll just rest here until the pain in my back stops..... doesnt seem to be stopping.... actually seems to be getting worse... oh look, i cant breathe! handy!
to save you all the tiny details, i was wheeled on an office chair into the staff room, where i lay on the floor with a wet paper towel on my forehead, my legs on a block, my arms not moving, turning paler and paler, feeling hot and cold, getting numb tingly hands

apparently i was dying

ok, i wasnt dying, but everyone was super worried about me. so super worried that i was transported to the hospital in an ambulance.

i wasnt dying though. id *just* pulled a muscle in my back. but when i say 'just', the doctor said 'they can be excruciatingly painful'. she was correct!

then i went home

i had endone. i recommend endone for all your pain needs. i will say it every day if someone gives me a life time supply

right, so i had a cat scan

JOKES!

but i did. i had a cat scan and a shitload of blood taken. cos, im not sure that you know, but seeing things that arent there and not seeing things that are? that is not correct brain procedure.

all that we found out is that my brain is fine. but as far as my blood work goes, my pain receptors are heightened. this basically means that i hurt, and i hurt lots. and if you were feeling that hurt it would probably be quite ok, possibly non existent, but probably handleable. when i hurt, it HUUUUUURTS. and its real because thats the way my body is feeling it. so, dont hit me or anything, k?

to fix this i have to get lighter and fitter.

im considering a photo a day thing. this is for a couple of reasons.

it will help me post more.
if i do lose weight, i'll be able to put it together like in a flip book an watch myself get skinny.
if i make the commitment to post a photo every day, that means (for your sake and mine) that i will need to get dressed every day, and therefore, put some sort of effort into my appearance.

but as you know i am very very lazy. so i guess i'll aim for 3 photos a week and see what happens

although, while out there i asked my boyfriend to marry me one day. he said 'maybe one day, actually, i take that back'.

probably an intelligent, sensible answer. i did hallucinate worms in my car on friday morning and almost run off the road. i also hung my dress on a coat hanger the other day, before tossing it onto the pile of clothes that is devouring my floor space.

kailey slept with me. i slept. i managed not to vomit or cry. i woke up to find nick had been to the shops and brought me in a trolley of tea and chocolate.

the first time i found nick earls, i was driving. he was reading from 48 shades of brown, about balling up socks

There's something strangely isolating about folding your underpants just metres away from the action, arranging socks systematically in a drawer as though it might be useful. Looking at them sitting there in rows, needlessly colour-coded (although it won't last), which seems to symbolise some very unchosen kind of aloneness. It makes me think of the 'my weekend' stories we had to write at primary school. On the weekend there was lots of sex in my house. Me? My socks, they're totally organised.

the story of kailey

ive been thinking about a dog for a long time. when voldehmort and i broke up, i had to leave my dog with him. finding a rental property as a 'single mum with a dorda...'... oops, i mean, single parent with a part time job was proving hard enough.

i found a place, and i got my cats, but i kept thinking about a dog

ive been looking on heaps of sites, sa dog rescue, adopt a pet, pet rescue, moorook and the trading post and gumtree. i even met a couple of puppies

who were lovely in real life, but not really what i was looking for.

and then i found kailey

but she was so far away. almost 7 hours round trip. but i emailed anyway, to see what we could do

as it happened, the owner of moorook, where kailey was, was driving down to adelaide that weekend, and if i could get to prospect, i could pick her up. the timing was a little off, but i said yes, and i put the kids in the car and we drove off for our surprise trip. neither if them knew what was going on. they were guessing things like bowling, laser skirmish, the airport...nope, thats not it.

as we drove up to the house, x saw the van out the front.

x '...animal shelter...'

we got out of the car, and were introduced to kailey. i loved her, e loved her,

e 'oh mum, thank you so much, i love her i love her, shes JUST SO CUTE, you are the BEST mum ever!'

but x... not so much. he sat in the car, head in his hands, and didnt say much.

it was time to take her home and we put her on the car seat inbewteen the boys. kailey tried snuggling up with x but he just stared out the window, eyes rimmed red, trying not to cry

cheer advisory council played our album launch with steering by stars and danvers and ghost knife and it was pretty fucking awesome.

most times playing is fun. sometimes its annoying and tiring and i just want to go home. sometimes i dont even want to leave the house to play. but saturday night was actual fun, with lovely people and good friends and excellent music.

this pokemon problem

yesterday, after hours of playing, the game was switched of... WITHOUT SAVING! this is devastating news. at least, it was to one small boy who curled up in a ball and cried and cried. do you understand how hard that was? all that work, and now, back to snorelax?? can we please not talk about it?

so we didnt talk about it, i just rubbed his back and tried to ease his fists open and calm him down. eventually his body started to sink further into the couch. he was letting it go. his hands unclenched and his face relaxed, he hugged me and he stomped off to bed.

but today. my goodness.

there was a trade happening. something im not keen on, because i dont know enough about pokemon to know if everyone is getting a fair deal, but i understand its part of the game. also, e has been playing for long enough now that he should have some idea of what's going on. hes also pretty suspicious of x, so i dont think he'd let anything get past him.

through the tears and the face buried into the pillows, i made out 'he was a legendary!!!!'

this is apparently very important

x felt so bad that he ran off down the road and sat on the footpath on the corner, something i remember doing myself... odd how these things are passed on. e cried and cried, balling himself up in my lap and sobbing. i called x home and he was crying too. each time he calmed himself down, he'd start up again and tears would roll out of his eyes. i suggested he come inside and have some quiet time.
'i dont deserve to come inside'
he's also banned himself from any computer games as a self punishment.
then he locked himself in the toy room. when i checked on him he had chosen 6 rare pokemon cards, and an average pokemon card, plus an offer of golbat in the game. golbat is average and was not accepted.

18. If you could have personally witnessed one event in history, what would you want to have seen?

I’d like to go back and see things that I’ve been involved in, and watch them from an outsiders perspective. Maybe I remember things differently than they really happened. Or maybe I’ll appreciate things more if I see them from a different point of view.

Im generally carly-dressed, which means regardless of what im wearing, I don’t feel comfortable in it, and think I should have worn something else, so either of those choices would give me the same feeling

6. What dead person would you least want to be haunted by?

Someone super scary? Voldemort wouldn’t be very nice.

7. Who would you most like to be stuck in an elevator with? Least like?

how long am I stuck in there for? Macguyver would be handy, cos he’d get us out quick smart. Jim sturgess would be very nice, because we would totally end up making out. Miffy, cos we’d be laughing the whole time.
I’d least like to be stuck in there with quite a few real life people, so I’ll not name them, for fear of stabbings with scissors or something. In general, someone who smelled really bad or panicked. That wouldn’t be fun

Hmmm. What would I be doing in my week? Just the usual that I do every week? Cos if so, I’d probably go the week without changing clothes but be able to bathe. Because, normally I don’t do a lot, so I can just go to bed naked and not worry about dirtying my clothes because I wouldn’t be wearing them very often in the first place

autumn. End of summer, w00t! and its my birthday, so I get presents, and its easter, so theres an actual excuse to eat chocolate.

I’d love to be in buffy, just to hang around people. And be there for oz when willow goes lesbian. I’m helpful like that. Laid is really funny, and I’d love to have those characters as friends. It’d also be fun to hang out inside the big bang theory. Those guys never cook at home, always eating takeaway.

my poppa always said I should star in a film as meryl streep when she was younger. Im thinking that as I get older, this isn’t going to happen.

I don’t often eat strange things. I probably ate something odd in japan without even knowing it. When we were on the plane, they brought out this stuff that looked, and tasted, a lot like playdough. I nibbled on it, but I didn’t eat it.
Quite often when im holding something in my hand, I want to swallow it. Doesn’t matter what it is. I don’t do it though

this is also a tricky question. I think its important to tell the truth, but there are certain times where if you told the truth it would be the totally wrong thing to do, and for various reasons. What about the almost truth? Or the roundabout truth? Truths that are better sugar coated so that they’re more palatable for the receiver?
